Waupun residents and businesses are often targeted by companies offering “Insurance Coverage” on replacement of the exterior water/sewer service lines running into their home or business. Is this too good to be true? Probably is….. Waupun Utilities does not endorse such “insurance coverage” with unknown companies.
Some information the “insurance company” sends with their letter correspondence to homeowners and businesses is true. – If a water or sewer service line going from the curb stop/lateral in the terrace to the home or business ever needs repair or replacement, it is the customer's responsibility and at the expense of the owner – not Waupun Utilities. However, having to replace these lines are rare and far and few between.
Some homeowners/business policies do cover replacements if need be. If you feel such coverage is necessary, please contact your local reputable and trusted insurance provider to get their take on the subject and see what they recommend.
