WAUPUN, Wis. — Waupun Utilities and the City of Waupun were represented in Washington, D.C., this week at the 2026 American Public Power Association (APPA) Legislative Rally.
Waupun Utilities General Manager Steve Brooks and City of Waupun Mayor Rohn Bishop joined public power leaders from across the country to advocate on behalf of the communities they serve. The annual Legislative Rally brings together public power executives, policymakers, and local officials to meet directly with members of Congress and their staff on issues affecting locally owned electric utilities.
During their time on Capitol Hill, Brooks and Bishop met with federal legislators and congressional staff to discuss key issues impacting Waupun, including electric reliability, infrastructure investment, cybersecurity, and maintaining affordable, locally controlled power.
Meetings included discussions with Rep. Glenn Grothman’s office, as well as other members of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation.
As a community-owned utility, Waupun Utilities is committed to ensuring that federal policies support reliable service, infrastructure investment, and local decision-making. Participation in the APPA Legislative Rally provides an important opportunity to share Waupun’s perspective at the national level.
